A Jack O' Lantern Lit Woods Walk to Support Youth Nature Programs
This year's GLOW Jack O' Lantern Walk was a huge success! Between ticket sales and sponsors, we were able to raise $13,894! The event sold out for all three nights, and despite having to face some challenges from Mother Nature (hello heavy rains and flooding!), we had so much fun.
We had 215 jack o' lanterns on our trails, all carved by our staff, kids in our nature programs and parents who volunteered to help with carving. Most of these pumpkins were donated by Hannaford in Topsham, Lowe's in Portland, Walmart in Brunswick, Shaws in both Wiscasset and Bath, and Target of Topsham. Our beautiful photo scene was painted by a couple members of our staff with paint and plywood donated from Lowe's in Brunswick!
We would like to thank our many volunteers who made this event possible by offering their time, treat donations and pumpkins. Almost all of these volunteers were parents of children and teens in our Nature Immersion Programs! We are so grateful to all of you! Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets and came out to Through the Trees to enjoy our walk!
October 29th, 30th and 31st
Join us this Halloween for our 2nd Annual GLOW event! Our first year of this event was a smashing success and sold out quickly, as families and friends of all ages dressed in costume and meandered through the forest on Halloween night. This year, we are making this festive walk available for three nights!
Walk with your group on the wooded trail, lined with glowing jack o' lanterns carved by the kids and teens in our nature programs, and stop at several trick-or-treating spots along the way. Continue on the trail of glowing pumpkins or take a slight detour on the Spooky Trail - if you dare!
Proceeds raised from this SPOOK-tacular event support the Youth Scholarship Fund for our Nature Immersion program for ages 4 to 17, making our programs accessible to more families. We hope you will join us for a glowing October evening in nature, while helping us get more kids outside to experience the healing and rejuvenating effects of the natural world!
