Youth Scholarship Fund: Through the Trees provides scholarships for our Youth Nature Immersion Program to families who need assistance. We now annually serve over 300 children in Cumberland, Sagadahoc, Androscoggin and Knox counties year-round in nature immersion programs. Currently one-third of our participants are receiving scholarship support, which equates to approximately $5,500 awarded per month.
Program Costs: Our goal is to hire and retain skilled, knowledgeable and passionate staff who love being outdoors in all weather with children, teens, adults and families. Our amazing team members work hard and paying our team a living wage is important to us. As the demand for nature programs for children and teens grows each year, we try to meet this demand by expanding programs, hiring new staff and continuously purchasing needed supplies and gear.
“Through the Trees is a place of joy and healing for our daughters. We've seen physical improvements and social and emotional growth in our children by being immersed in nature with an exceptional and trustworthy staff.”

"There is a growing body of evidence that being immersed in nature benefits children’s emotional, physical and social health. According to the Child Mind Institute, 'the studies agree that kids who play outside are smarter, happier, more attentive, and less anxious than kids who spend more time indoors.' These studies only confirm what we witness every day."
