HOMESCHOOL PROGRAMS (2021-2022)
September 13, 2021 through May 26, 2022
Our Homeschool Nature Immersion programs are for ages 4 to 17. During the school year (September through May), we offer four different age cohorts: Maple, Beech, Aspen and Oak. Our nature-focused community fosters a sense of deep connection and belonging with ourselves, each other and the earth. Children and teens have the opportunity to mindfully connect with and be fully immersed in the natural world, exploring over 50 acres of forest, field, pond, and brook. Our Guides and Mentors support and encourage self-directed learning and play as well as hands-on, project-based activities as participants follow their unique interests. Children and teens build self-awareness and resilience by incrementally pushing past comfort zones in a supportive community. Group activities and projects foster teamwork, creative problem solving and communication.
The benefits of being in nature have been well documented. Being immersed in nature supports every domain of development - physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and social. We have seen the kids in our programs grow to become more resilient, responsible, self-aware and mindful as a result of our time in nature together. Our staff prioritize creating a meaningful community and helping kids develop emotional intelligence, problem solving, communication skills, self-confidence and a love and respect for the natural world.
*We recognize that kids don’t all develop at the same rate. For kids who are on the line between age groups, our staff will work with parents to make an assessment as to which group seems most appropriate based on personality, ability and group dynamics. Children must be at least 4 years old by the start of the program to join Maple.
