Summer 2024

 

 


This is our gear list for the summer months. This includes what to wear and what to pack. The most important items are plenty of food and water, change of clothes, water shoes, and insect repellent. We highly recommend labeling ALL GEAR with your child's name! 

  • FOOTWEAR
    • Light wool or synthetic socks (try to avoid cotton - dries slowly) 
    • Sneakers or hiking boots for dry days
    • Rain boots on rainy days
    • Pack pair of water shoes or closed-toe sandals for water play at brook
  • STANDARD CLOTHING 
    • Long pants that can be tucked into socks (for tick management)
    • Short AND Long sleeve shirt
  • LAYERS  
    • Extra layer - long sleeve fleece or wool shirt in the their backpack
    • Outer layer - Waterproof Rain Pants or bibs & Rain Jacket if needed for weather
  • HEAD & HANDS
    • Sun hat
    • Work Gloves (optional but can be helpful)
  • EXTRA CLOTHING - Pack extra clothing in a plastic bag in a backpack.
    • Pants
    • Short sleeve Shirt
    • Long Sleeve Shirt
    • Socks
    • Underwear
    • Water shoes or other shoes that can get wet
  • FOOD & FOOD GEAR
    • Kids are very active all day and eat a lot of food. Good options are foods with healthy fats and protein like nut/seed butter, nuts, trail mix, cheese, jerky, bacon, hard boiled eggs. Avoid foods high in sugar. Kids get extra hungry being outdoors, so pack extra!
    • Full Water bottle (extra water is available if needed)
    • Camp mug 
  • OTHER
    • Camp hammock with tree straps (optional, but very helpful)
    • Journal and pens/pencils/markers
    • Sunscreen
    • Bug Spray 
  • CHILDREN 8 and Up (Optional and useful items)
  • THINGS NOT TO BRING
    • Electronics
    • Anything you do not want to get wet or dirty
    • Clothing, shoes or personal items that are precious, delicate or stain easily
